Sources and Corrections

Sapiens Verbum Daily aims to be accurate, transparent and useful. These are the rules we follow for every story.

Sources

• Every news story is based on at least two reliable, named sources: museums, auction houses, official bodies, academic publications or established news organisations.
• All sources are linked at the end of the post so readers can check them.
• We report facts and add historical context and analysis. We do not republish press releases or copy other outlets' articles.
• When information cannot be verified, we leave it out or state clearly that it is unconfirmed. Legends and anecdotes are labelled as such.

Images

We only use public domain images from museum open-access collections, Wikimedia Commons files marked as public domain, or photographs from the Sapiens Verbum archive. We do not use press photographs or images whose rights we do not hold.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it as quickly as possible and add a dated note at the end of the post explaining what was corrected. To report an error, please contact us.

Independence

Stories are chosen for their interest to readers of art history. Links to the Sapiens Verbum print shop or to books may generate income for the project; they never decide what we report or how.
